Character Assassination Captured on Tape
NOTE: The most important asset the victim of a sociopath can have is quality evidence, and that means much more than your word against theirs … you will never win that one.
Virtually no one will believe your description of the sociopath’s activities, statements, or their real character, since that charming sociopath has already destroyed your character, made themselves look incapable of any such activity, and likely made you out to be a dishonest jackass. Hence, I present one evidence-option, beginning here … as always, you must be very careful, and with this, definitely within the law.
MY THEN-FUTURE-EX-WIFE WALKS OUT
On Tuesday, during the first week in January, 1995, the mother of our kids, Julie, told me that she was leaving — and by that weekend, she was gone. She had rented a small house.
There was nothing that led up to this, as during the previous four months, she continued to express her desire to have another child. At the time, we had a four-year-old son, and two-year-old daughter. Julie seemed as happy as she could be.
The week after Julie left, her only sister, Lori, called me and made me promise to keep the call a secret — this is the first time I’m mentioning it. I’ve been trying to locate Lori for years, but due to her getting married and having a new last name, I’ve completely lost touch.
One of the first things Lori told me was that, “None of this makes any sense. Julie and I spoke over the holidays and she told me how happy she was with you, and how you were her best friend.”
Then she said some scary things, “You need to get a restraining order and keep Julie away from the kids.” She was afraid to tell me why.
She also said, “You need to get custody, and save those kids.” Again, she could not tell me why, but I had no reason not to believe her. She and Julie had always been close, and she wouldn’t call to tell me such things unless Julie had, indeed, said things that frightened her.
I immediately wished I had recorded that call with Lori. It was after that call that I decided I needed to record all my calls.
About three weeks after Julie moved out, I set-up a call recording system that automatically sensed a call, and only recorded when the hand-set was in use.
THE LEGALITY OF RECORDING PHONE CALLS
The only law in regards to recording phone conversations, that I am aware of, is the law that applies to me, as well everyone else in my state of residence (your state may vary).
In this state, it is illegal to tap another’s phone line and record calls without their knowledge.
It is fully legal to record a phone call, where at least one party is aware of being recorded, i.e., it’s my phone and I know I’m recording the conversation. The other party is not required to be notified, nor does any reoccurring beep need to be included.
I set-up the system on a Sunday. Because I had two phone lines coming into the house, I moved a couple of the phones around so the correct line was more convenient to me.
When I returned home from work the following day, Monday, I came home to a big surprise. I noticed a bunch of audio tape had been used since I left in the morning. That was when I discovered I had an uninvited daily visitor — Julie was sneaking into my home and taking things. And while there, she also used the phone.
It’s also when I discovered who the “other” guy was, someone who actually worked for her. And frankly, no one would have suspected him, since he was very effeminate. He was also in his early-20s, while she was in her late-30s.
The majority of these recordings do not include me, but two other people, primarily Julie and her boyfriend, Christopher. Neither knows positively they’re being recorded, but on the very first call, Julie immediately told Christopher that the phones had been moved around, which was followed by a discussion of the probability that the calls were being recorded. But after that discussion, they voluntarily continued talking about many other things.
At the end of the call, the discussion came back to the likelihood of it being recorded, at which point, Christopher boldly left a message for me … he stated I’d hear when I listened back to the tapes. Sure seems as if they were both aware of being recorded.
And that comment of awareness is this first sound bite.
