The Psychological Trait That Makes
Humans So Easily Brainwashed

The ease to which a person becomes brainwashed is not a matter of intelligence. A sociopath or psychopath can manipulate a university professor just as easily as a blue-collar laborer. Recognizing a lie over the truth is more a matter of genetic wisdom.

In fact, the human mind seems to prefer brainwashing from lies over accepting truth by a wide margin. People like a “sales-type presentation” which they readily accept from profit-motivated sales people. People are this way worldwide, but especially in all English-speaking countries. Most people literally open their mind more easily to unsubstantiated, far-out stories from an energetic and controlling liar, but will tense-up, turn-off and virtually flee from sound, truthful information presented as fact.

People are brainwashed because of their psychological arrogance. Some people are so arrogant, self-centered and proud that whatever they are told to believe is automatically assumed to be correct. They make no effort to dig out the truth. These people literally brainwash themselves.

One Major Example of Arrogant Brainwashing.

Arrogance and brainwashing occurred at NASA, causing the unnecessary loss of life. The Space Managers launched the Space Shuttle Challenger in below freezing weather, even though the Engineers informed them of the weather limitation, specifically that the rocket motor seals would leak.

Scientific tests by the Engineers had already proven the temperature limitation that were specified. The test data was ignored, the Managers gave the OK to launch, and shortly after take-off, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded, killing all seven astronauts.

During the extensive briefings following the disaster, the Space Managers tried to blame it on the Engineers.

YOU MAY be wondering how it is that this week the financial industry, which was on taxpayer life support, announced it would be doling out more than $140 billion in bonuses to the very executives who created the mess in the first place. Or how it is that some of these same institutions recently began raising the interest rates on your credit cards to unprecedented levels. Or how it is that there are now reports of new and risky financial skulduggery afoot.

To answer these questions, it may help to consult the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,” the handbook for psychologists. The manual describes a broad category called antisocial personality disorder, which includes those whom we commonly describe as sociopaths. According to the manual, this disorder manifests itself, among other ways, in “deceitfulness” as indicated by “conning others for personal profit or pleasure”; “irresponsibility”; and “lack of remorse as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another.”

One could easily make the case that Bernie Madoff, R. Allen Stanford, the subprime mortgage pushers, the derivatives dealers, and the rest of the Wall Street gang were all economic sociopaths who were actively hostile to the interests of the American people and wholly devoid of conscience. What they did was not just the result of miscalculation or even greed, but of something much deeper and darker.

Garden-variety sociopaths – say, rapists or serial murderers – are reviled and typically punished. But when economic sociopaths were plundering the country, they were being lionized as bold entrepreneurs, financial buccaneers, even rock stars. In the financial press, they were gods …

First off, with all things being equal, potentially one in every 10-20 visitors to this site is a sociopath … and probably not very happy as to what this site — and others like it — reveal. So, when I began this site, less than two months ago, I suspected that if I did receive a sociopath visitor or two, I just may also receive a sociopath comment or two.

You know, maybe they’d help out with some insider tips … such as early detection techniques for spotting or identifying the office sociopath … including step-by-step instructions on how to run faster than a gazelle.

But wait … you don’t think they’d lie to us, do you?

First off, it depends what you mean by the word “spot” … to me, I use it in referring to a quick observation. Such as, “I spotted a deer just as it ran into the woods.” If your intended meaning of “spot” is similar, then NO … you’ll never “spot” a sociopath.

Q: How difficult can it be to identify a sociopath?

A: Does taking 50-years give you any idea?

Yes, in 2003, I accidently overheard something that I thought was minor, but it was not minor to someone I’ve known my entire life. It led to the discovery that my oldest sister, Kathy, is an undeniable and very vengeful sociopath. I am writing a multi-part article, detailing how I happened to make the discovery, why it took so long, and the ramifications it’s had on my life … what you should do, and what you shouldn’t.

A true sociopath is highly skilled at what they do (i.e., manipulation and deception), as they have been working at it every single day of their life. Why? Because it is their life, the only life they know. And they know how to successfully achieve their goals, usually narcissistic, and that’s by drawing in and using others.

Back in June 2009, an Illinois state prosecutor declared that Senator Roland Burris [D] will not be charged with perjury for less-that-truthful statements he made before an Illinois House impeachment committee.

Well, of course not, he’s a senator. Isn’t that clout enough? [sic]

This next one — a true favorite — I’m stating entirely from memory. I do not recall the details, but the rest will be difficult to ever forget.

Elect to lie.

I believe it was during the summer of 2008, when White House-sitter, George W. Bush [R] was asked (or subpoenaed) to testify before a Senate sub-committee. In his formal reply, Bush agreed to testify as long as he was not required to be under oath. Privileged?!

Ironically, he was honest about intending to be dishonest. Maybe it’s my own naivety, but why do people need to take an oath just to tell the truth?

Each school day in the US, approximately 160,000 kids do not go to school for fear of being bullied. [Source: CDC]
Could a Teen Bully be a Young Sociopath in Training?

I know the life history of two sociopaths, one currently in her early-50s, and the other in her late-50s. In both cases, I believe it’s safe to say they were born with personality disorders. As young children and teens, they were already acting out unpolished characteristics of a sociopath, as it would still require experience for them to hone their narcissistic, manipulating and maliciously-deceptive skills.

Both of these individuals exhibited clear warning signs while they were still minors, even though each displayed them in very different ways. In neither case, did their behavior draw any intervention. So it may be safe to say that it would not necessarily be a simple process to identify young people with one of the sociopathic disorders.

Then again, do we have our eyes open?

THE BULLY SYNDROME  NOW PLAYING AT SCHOOLS EVERYWHERE

As I began looking into the problem of student harassment, a friend of mine gave me the name of a clinical psychologist, Dr. Bob, PhD [not his real name], who’s entire life’s work is focussed on school-aged individuals. He is the full-time, Lead Psychologist at the largest school district in the state (by enrollment), and also maintains a ongoing calendar on the lecture circuit.

Character Assassination Captured on Tape

NOTE: The most important asset the victim of a sociopath can have is quality evidence, and that means much more than your word against theirs … you will never win that one.

Virtually no one will believe your description of the sociopath’s activities, statements, or their real character, since that charming sociopath has already destroyed your character, made themselves look incapable of any such activity, and likely made you out to be a dishonest jackass.  Hence, I present one evidence-option, beginning here … as always, you must be very careful, and with this, definitely within the law. continue reading…

Character Assassination Captured on Tape

The following was recorded in January 1995, about three weeks after Julie moved out unexpectedly.

1 The male voice is that of Christopher, co-worker (and boyfriend) of my then-wife; the female voice is that of Julie, my then-wife.

2 Christopher and I had never met yet he states he has me “figured out.” At that point, I knew virtually nothing about him, as we had never met. To me, he was only a name at her office.

3 Christopher describes me as “controlling” yet he’s only regurgitating what he was fed by Julie. She was manipulating him, and everyone else she knew, to cover for her infidelity. Julie agrees with him as if he figured it out on his own.

4 Julie also made me out to be an abusive husband (audio #3) as part of her destruction of my character. She has continued to spread all of these lies about me right up to the present.

It’s obvious that part of Julie’s attack on my character included one I consider extremely vicious — claiming I was an abuser. This can be heard in her recording below from 1995, yet nothing could be further from the truth. It was Julie herself who had a history of unpredictable violence.

As recently as 2006, though, fearing the possibility of her own exposure as a sociopath, Julie filed a completely fabricated lawsuit against me, this time including that I was abusive and unfit to be a parent.

Even though her claims consisted of absolutely no truth whatsoever, Julie filed a sworn, written affidavit (i.e., committing perjury) stating four lies as to my parenting, and a fifth lie that I had a history of violence. Since it would be impossible for her to present any legitimate proof of any of her allegations, her plan was to bribe my daughter to lie for her.

Based on admissions by my daughter to others, her mom told her if she signed the document, she would be able to live with her mom and have all the freedom she wanted … no supervision at the age of 14. She’d never need to worry about restriction.

Whether or not she knew what she was signing, the document was handed to me in court, stating that I had “hit my daughter in the head, choked her, and threw her to the ground” … I was truly stunned. Julie wanted to see me arrested right in court, based on her own lies. Shame? Guilt? No.

An investigator with the state’s child protective services was called in to investigate and began by interviewing my daughter that morning. On the stand, the investigator was asked if my daughter told her of that physical abuse.

This, like so many other things, would be very tough to believe if I did not hear it myself. Part of this recording, an important part, is not very easy to hear unless you are listening for it.

Julie begins by stating she’s taking a drill from my house, and follows that by asking Christopher if he can think of anything else. At that point, Julie mumbles, but it’s what Christopher says beneath that mumble that begins the focus of the rest of the conversation.

Listen carefully, and you’ll hear Christopher say, “Take food.”

Julie finds that extremely funny, even though she knows I’d be bringing the kids home for dinner in less than an hour.

She laughs, and laughs, and says, “Oh, yay! … You crack me up!”
